Visual Schedule Benefits
Young children want to know the plan and have a sense of control over their day.
Communicating this information in a way children can remember and understand can be challenging. Young children:
- need a longer time to process instructions
- forget what was said
- do not hear the instructions
- get distracted
- do not like the options given
A picture schedule gives kids the information they need in a way they can understand and remember – much like adults refer to a calendar or to-do list. Armed with information and choice, kids are more likely to cooperate and adults and children can enjoy the activities together.
